Solange Knowles tapped for Armani Jeans

Beyonce's baby sister, Solange Knowles, is joining the Armani family. Following in her sibling's footsteps (she is the face of Emporio Diamonds fragrance) the 22-year-old has been recruited to represent Armani Jeans.

"Armani Jeans expresses my vision of a young, independent, casual lifestyle with a strong and cool fashion sensibility," said Giorgio Armani. "Solange epitomizes this style perfectly and brings to it that swing so evident in her new single, 'I Decided.'"

The singer has agreed to wear the brand during her current European press tour through London and Cannes.

London Style

If you've ever seen the ladies of London just roaming the streets you've likely picked up on the fact that the fashion there varies as much as the do between NY and LA.

Across the pond they enjoy more subdued shades, a 80's vibe, frills and even the occasional baby doll dress covered in flowers. Kate Moss has her own line at Top Shop but it's no far reach from what all other UK designers are putting out there. The look is easy, comfortable and it's got Keira and Kate's stink all over it.

Christina Aguilera wishes Macy's Happy Birthday

Christina Aguilera is helping wish Macy’s a happy birthday, with her new striking ad.
As Macy’s celebrates turning 150 this October, it has enlisted some star power to help spread the word.

Stars including Christina Aguilera, Donald Trump, Martha Stewart, Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein all posted for famed Rolling Stone photographer Mark Seliger for a series of commemorative photos to mark the occasion.

All of the images will appear on larger-than-life displays at Macy’s stores nationwide.
As for Christina’s photo, which shows the pop diva in a stunning dress adorned by a wall of flowers, the photo harkens back to the Macy’s Flower Shows, which first debuted in California stores in 1946.

However, Christina isn’t the only blonde singing bombshell to team up with Macy’s. According to previous reports, Jessica Simpson was in New York last week shooting a holiday commercial for the department store chain.

Lydia Hearst’s Steamy New Role: Myla Lingerie Model

After causing a stir on the final episode of Gossip Girl last season, Lydia Hearst is back with a project that we’re sure that Chuck Bass would appreciate — a steamy new ad campaign for Myla, the luxury lingerie brand. The model has been named the new face (and scantily clad body) of Myla’s Autumn Winter 2008 campaign. In an eight shot campaign, Lydia brings to life the dark, seductive Hollywood glamour of the ’40s. With the collection’s silk satin, rich jewel colors, dark layered lace and pale vintage frills offset by Lydia’s sculpted blond curls, she plays the part of the screen siren perfectly. Ads are expected to run starting in August and through December. We think Lydia looks amazing in this steamy campaign

Spot the Missing Designer!

“America’s New Fashion Guard” receives the full Vanity Fair treatment in the September issue. We couldn’t help but notice a few surprises. First, Peter Som (an established designer who’s currently helming two of New York’s most talked-about labels) and Zac Posen (recepient of more press than our Vice President) are considered up-and-coming talent. Eh, maybe we’ve known them all for so long that we forget they’re not as ubiquitous as, say, Ralph and Donna. And on the Marchesa front, we see Georgina Chapman front and center, but Keren Craig is absent from the photo, and she’s not even mentioned in the accompanying text. We know Craig was recently married; could she have been on her honeymoon?

H&M's Fashion forward collection

We talked briefly about H&M's fashion forward capsule collection and now that pictures are available, we can all get a good gawk at them. Whilst it ultimately comes down to fit and build quality, on first look I'm slightly disappointed.

There's a reliance on the colour grey, presumably to tone down the edginess of the looks and some of the pieces have already been done on the high street. On the bright side, I do like the look of the blazer on the far right and Rick Owens-esque long sleeved shirt (far left) looks like it could be an interesting piece. You'll be able to judge for yourself come mid September, when the collection is released.

Kelly Knox wins Britain's Missing Top Model; scores Marie Claire shoot

Have you been tuning into Britain's Missing Top Model on BBC3? If not, then you're probably unaware that Kelly Knox won the competition to find the UK's top disabled model.
The 23-year-old, who was born without a left arm, was put through six weeks of modelling tests alongside fellow contestants with disabilities ranging from deaf to brain injury.

Knox was named the winner last night, and scored a contract with Take 2 Model Management, together with a shoot with Marie Claire magazine

"In my household we don't use the word disabled. Never have done, never will do. I don't feel disabled but society will label me as being disabled," she said.

Marie O'Riordan, editor of Marie Claire added: "To get disability discussed on the sofas throughout the land is no mean feat and using a popular format of a reality show was a clever way of seducing viewers into a more complex world. We hope this does pave the way for girls with disabilities to get into modelling in the future.".

Let's hope so. What a stunning girl, and a deserving winner

Justin Timberlake jealous of Ashton Kutcher (and his trucker cap)

Justin Timberlake has lashed out at Ashton Kutcher over who was first responsible for making trucker caps cool. Yes, really.

The twinkle-toed singer made the call in an article for Vanity Fair's Fashion Rocks supplement, where he claims that he and William Rast buddy, Trace Ayala, should be credited for starting the trend, and not the Punked! host.

"It's funny, I keep hearing Ashton Kutcher say how he was responsible for trucker caps. I've heard him make that statement before, " he said.

"Trace and I were wearing them when we were seventeen. We just kind of didn't care. We kind of still don't."

Good. Because neither do we.

Across the boards, people bought less mags at newsstands, but some titles are double DOUBLE DIGITS in the first half of the year.

Surprisingly, the mag that was hurt the most was Oprah's, followed closely by Anna Wintour's Teen Vogue and Vogue.

On the bright side, Vanity Fair saw an increase in their readership during the first half of the year.

Their newsstand sales are up by 5.8% thanks to Slutty Miley!

Armani Enters the Bullfighting Ring

Giorgio Armani is having a delightfully productive summer. First, he has created a scholarship for a master’s program. Now, we’ve learned that he designed a costume for famed bullfighter Cayetano Rivera Ordoñez, for the feverish LII ‘Corrida Goyesca, taking place on September 6 in Ronda, Spain. Cayetano’s suit includes a jacket, trousers and cloak in techno satin in a signature Armani greige.

The three pieces are embroidered with sequins, glitter stones and thread, all matching the color of the primary fabric. Instrestingly enough, the Ordoñez family has a very strong history of costume courtship. Years ago, none other that Pablo Picasso designed the same costume for Cayetano’s grandfather, Antonio Ordoñez.

Nelly’s New Underwear Ads for Sean John Revealed!

Photo: Randee St. Nicholas for Sean John
Sean "Diddy" Combs's label Sean John just announced Nelly as its new spokesmodel for the underwear division. How delightful: a new hot male underwear model to ogle! This is the first time the brand's appointed a spokesperson just for underpants, but isn't it about time someone spoke for underpants?
And it's our expert opinion that Nelly's doing a pretty good job so far. He looks chiseled and shiny, but in a clean-new-skivvies sort of way. In a press release, Diddy explains, "[Nelly] has the attitude, the swagger, and most of all the physique that our customers can both aspire and relate to … And let's be honest, all of the ladies out there are going to be thanking us for this campaign." Yes, Diddy, thank you. A woman cannot subsist on David Beckham alone.
However, we do take slight issue with the styling in this image: Why, if this is an ad for boxer briefs, isn't Nelly pantless? We reckon we're only seeing about, say, 28 percent of the underwear you want us to buy for our boyfriends.
In fact, how do we know if we're looking at boxer briefs or just briefs? We understand this is the only image that has been released from the new ads — let's hope when the rest come out, we'll see a little more, you know, leg. Money's going to be tight this holiday season so we'll all need all the convincing we can get.

Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera and Amber Tamblyn at The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants 2 premiere

The sisterhood is back! Blake Lively (in Gucci), Alexis Bledel (in Badgley Mischka), America Ferrera (in Brian Reyes) and Amber Tamblyn make a welcome return to our screens next month in the sequel to 2005's successful chick flick The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants.

The girls were in fine form last night for the world premiere in New York and had a few Gossip Girls (and boys) as well as not-so-ugly Betty's also lending their support by attending. Seems a lot can change in three years - last time round, Blake and America were the two lesser-known actresses, while Amber and Alexis were riding high on their respective small-screen successes.

Henry Holland 'Lives not Knives' T-shirt

Knife crime has reached an unbelievable height in Britain and with the murder of Ben Kinsella, the seventeenth teenager to die as a result of knife crime in London this year, Grazia has launched their 'Lives for Knives' campaign. As part of the campaign, the magazine has got Henry Holland, Katharine Hamnett and Sophia Kokosalaki on board to design t-shirts as well as laying a set of Five Government Demands.

On my WISHLIST is Henry Holland's design, an electric-blue t-shirt with striking design and bold lettering. One size fits all and all proceeds go to the Ben Kinsella Foundation, a charity set up for the prevention of future knife-crime. I couldn't think of a more worthy summer buy.

Celeb Style: Leighton Meester

For a long time, if you were looking for a show full of exceedingly weather teens you were gonna get a bunch of west coast blondes who spend more time at the beach than they spend eating, sleep and school combined.

So when Gossip Girl was set to debut I was intrigued. Would it go the way of 'The Heights' and fizzle out in less than a year? Not with this wardrobe budget it wasn't. And it's officially here to stay.

The breakout star of the show is Leighton Meester who plays Blair Waldorf on the hit CW show. The irony here? Leighton grew up beach side and is naturally a blonde. Go figure.
Her style both in character on GG and her off screen frocks have garnered attention from big guns like Vogue and Cosmo and it hasn't gone unnoticed hereeither. Enjoy this retrospective of the last 9 months of Leighton Meester(above) VS Blair Waldorf(below)!
