Stephanie Trong named executive editor of Nylon & Nylon Guys
NYLON and NYLON GUYS have a new woman topping the masthead. Stephanie Trong has been named executive editor of both publications, effective August 4.
She replaces April Long, who was recently named senior beauty and fitness editor at Elle.
A veteran of Jane, Trong(above) was most recently the executive editor of Page Six Magazine.
"I remember the premier issue of NYLON, and I thought it was like nothing I had ever seen," Trong said. "Better than any American magazine. I am thrilled to work with this extremely talented and creative team."
Editor in chief Marvin Scott Jarrett was equally enthused."I'm thrilled to have Stephanie on board," he said. "She really understands the NYLON brand and brings a fresh perspective to the editorial team. Stephanie's talented work speaks for itself, and she will be a great asset to the magazine."

A New York Fashion Week
IT's been a long time coming but finally, a relatively firmed-up version of the New York Fashion Week schedule has arrived - and it was worth the wait.
The fashion action will kick off a day before a collection even hits the catwalk with a gala event at Saks Fifth Avenue on the evening of September 4, in anticipation of the 70th anniversary of the The Wizard of Oz in 2009; but that'll prove no excuse for a late start the following morning, as designer Michael Angel gets things started show-wise at 9am.
"We couldn't be more enthusiastic about the fantastic schedule we have planned for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week this season," says IMG fashion senior vice president Fern Mallis. "Once again we are showcasing both the most well-known and up and coming designers in the world."
Over eight days, count Calvin Klein, Diane Von Furstenberg, Zac Posen, Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang, Betsey Johnson, Michael Kors, Perry Ellis and Badgley Mischka among the list.
Add into the mix DKNY showing in the tents for the first time since 2002 to commemorate its upcoming 20-year anniversary and a confirmed front row appearance by Justin Timberlake at the catwalk outing of his label William Rast - and that's just for starters - and next season is already looking pretty spectacular.

Gossip Girls

Your favourite TV high school rivals, Gossip Girl's Serena (Blake Lively) and Blair (Leighton Meester), feature in the latest issue of Nylon magazine, and here are a few snippets from their interview with the mag...
Leighton on playing her character on Gossip Girl: "Maybe I've known [Blair] somehow or I know her in myself and she needs somebody to portray her in a way that isn't completely harsh because she could be so hated."
Blake on how she almost turned down the show: "[I thought] if there are pet monkeys wearing coordinating outfits, that's not something I'm going to want to be a part of.... "
Leighton on Gossip Girl style: "Serena is more thrown together and effortless and doesn't really care, and is just like, has this sexiness to her without trying, and Blair is really uptight and conservative and put together and everything has to be perfect, you know Chuck is kind of cocky and he's just like, I don't know, a prick."
Blake on the weirdness of Internet Message boards: "Yeah, it's kind of crazy but after the first Sisterhood trailer even came out, um, I guess it's maybe I'm the only person with long blonde hair in Hollywood. I don't know, but everyone was like, "Oh, she should be Serena."

Gossip Girl

Gossip Girls Serena (Blake Lively) and Blair (Leighton Meester) have landed alternative covers for the May issue of Nylon magazine.
The reason for choosing the fledgling stars? To celebrate the mag's annual Young Hollywood issue of course.
After all, what two celebs are influencing young people and fashion more right now than these stylish girls?
Pick your favourite cover to decide who really is Queen Bee - Serena or Blair?

Leighton Meester

Like every other young starlet with an enviable wardrobe, Leighton Meester wants to break into the fashion world. In an interview with Nylon mag, the Gossip Girl star was asked whether she'd be interested in designing in the future. Her answer?
"Absolutely. I would love to do my own thing, and see where that could take me. I love fashion, and sometimes I just feel like if I could only do and make whatever I wanted, it would make so much of a statement and really express who I am. So yes, in the future I would love to do a clothing label or work with a clothing label."
We're only months away from seeing 'accidentally leaked' sample pics of preppy white blouses and ribbon headbands, mark my words!

Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen
In the interview she talks about not being one of those girl with no underwear and one of her favourite animals - the pig!
"You won't see me getting into any cars without any undergarmets on."
"My mom is a sex therapist, which for me is like, okay mom, enough"
"All I will say [about Hayden Christensen] is that pigs are my favourite animal ... any person who owns a pig. I'm a fan of."
And to top it all of this issue of Nylon's is their biggest ever. :) I must buy in my books.
