Viktor & rolf resort 2009

Dutch design duo Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren said their namesake cruise collection is “for women [who] want to feel elegant, feminine and chic, but at the same time comfortable and independent.” This translated into more of the pair’s signature witty looks, such as a baseball jacket emblazoned with “VR” and worn with rolled-up boyfriend trousers.

Chloe resort 2009

For cruise, new Chloé designer Hannah MacGibbon played with what she called “Seventies and Eighties clichés,” parlaying guipure lace, polkadots and stiff linen into new takes on ensemble dressing. Key looks included an animal-print cocoon coat and full-sleeve blouses.

Elvis lives on... in the form of his grandaughter - Riley Keough

When Elvis Presley first burst onto the scene in 1956, folks were truly in awe of him. He embodied newness, trying something that had never been done before, with just the right dash of naivety and raw talent that defined him as someone who definitely had 'it'. Of course, his good looks certainly helped, but it was a combination of all of these elements that provided him with a type of magnetism which attracted people to him like flies.
Pouring through celebrity images this week, as I usually do in this job, my eyes were immediately drawn to pictures of Riley Keough, granddaughter of Presley, at a Hollywood event (see . For some reason I couldn't quite take my eyes off her, and I wasn't exactly sure why. Until it hit me - just like her grandfather before her, Keough possesses that extra something, a definite je nes sais quoi. For all the non-believers out there, Elvis does live on... in the spirit of this 19-year-old girl.

Images: A selection of pictures from Keough's modelling portfolio.
For those unfamiliar with Keough, she is the spawn of Lisa Marie Presley and actor/musician Danny Keough, and thus the grandspawn of Elvis and Priscilla Presley. With those looks I am sure it comes as little surprise that Keough landed a contract with IMG Models in Paris. At the very tender age of 12, she began work for Tommy Hilfiger, and has since bagged herself some pretty high-profile jobs, including being the face of Dior's perfume for the young-set, Miss Dior Cherie. In addition, she has appeared on several covers for Vogue and Elle and is even dating a muso, Ryan Cabrera, ex-boyfriend of Ashlee Simpson.

Despite her L.A. up-bringing, uber-celeb family, and her early acquaintance with the fashion industry, Keough seems to be remarkably switched on. She recently appeared on the Oprah show with mum Lisa (see above) where she revealed her desires to one day pursue a career in photography.
Soft-spoken, and unsure of all the attention she was creating, Riley eerily resembles Elvis in some of his earliest interviews. In particular, this one, filmed in the '60s, where a young uniform-clad Presley expresses his ambition to pursue a dramatic acting career. When asked whether he'd like to 'fashion himself after [Frank] Sinatra or [James] Dean', Presley replies: "I wouldn't want to fashion myself after any one particular individual, because I would like to develop my own technique."
Perhaps, the same could be said of Keough. Either way, she is definitely one to watch.

Set to the background of a recording studio, it certainly doesn't seem too much of a stretch for the pop star. Photographed by Tom Munro, the black-and-white ads, for the label's new men's fragrance Play!, show JT looking right at home listening to some tunes, and chilling on a private jet, in the latest Givenchy threads no less. Yesterday, the Sexyback singer attended a presentation of his new campaign at Paris during menswear fashion week.

Metallic Converse trainers

A wise man once said, 'you can never have enough Converse all stars'. Clearly he was wrong, but you could always do with adding some metallic colours to your shoe wardrobe. Getting a pair of Converse in gold or silver should set you on the right path.

I know what you're thinking. They look too span-dangly. Don't worry, they're actually quite understated for a metallic gold trainer. Well, they as understated as a pair of gold trainers can be, you'll still stand out from pretty much everyone with these on your feet. But that's a good thing.

Thierry Mugler returns with new ready-to-wear line

The rumours are true... Thierry Mugler is making a return to the catwalk but with an all-together new capsule collection named Thierry Mugler Edition, to be unveiled next week in Paris.
In what some may say is a case of out with the old, and in with the new, this ready-to-wear collection will feature aspects of the brand's high-drama pieces but without the extravagance (boo, says I).

Nevertheless, creative director Rosemary Rodriguez personally picked pieces from the Mugler archives to rework for her latest offering.

"The idea was to keep the [principal] Mugler [codes] but bring them to another generation; to [retain] the sharp shoulders but not to overdo it; to enhance the body but to allow for movement," she said

As you can tell from the new sketch (above) big shoulders and nipped in waists are high on list, breathing new life into the brand's original vision. Want the even better news? There is also a major Thierry Mugler exhibition planned for next year at an yet-to-be-named museum. Woot!

Michael Jackson will launch clothing line with Christian Audigier

That's right folks, a Michael Jackson fashion line is definitely in the pipeline. Ed Hardy's Christian Audigier confirmed the news yesterday, telling PEOPLE: "It's the merging of the King of Pop with the king of fashion. Something explosive is going to happen."
Erm... King of fashion? Got tickets, much?!

So with the sparkly gloves and gangsta hats officially on their way, where will such a collection be sold? Kitson... naturally. The boutique's loose-lipped owner, Fraser Ross, spoke of his decision to exclusively stock the forthcoming line.

"Michael Jackson is an international pop icon who has had a huge following throughout his career," he said. "I think people will think it's hip to wear his line. Through all his ups and downs people still love him. He still has a huge fan base."

Stars at the BET Awards 2008

Last night the stars came out for The Black Entertainment Network's 2008 BET Awards. Among attendees were high-profile celebs like Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Ashanti, Lil' Kim and TLC, and they pulled out all the stops to make an impact.
In her second gown of the night, Alicia ramps up the glamour in this white number. Apparently, she had Spanx on underneath. Now that's our kind of girl!
Beyonce's little sis works the watercolour look, with what look like Giuseppe Zanotti cut-out uber-wedges.
Lil Mama may as well be wearing a 'Fug Me' sign on her forehead with this unconventional get-up. A+ for effort though.
For her first look of the night, Alicia opts for a strapless cocktail frock by David Meister with Sergio Rossi paint-splatter shoes. Is it just us, or does the dress look a bit big for her tiny frame?
A space-age trim stops Gabrielle's white sheath from looking too dull, but is it still a bit too safe for such a stunning actress?
Oh come on, they're asking for it, aren't they?TLC, the mid 90s called. They want their unflattering clothes back.
It looks like the 'Princess of Hip-Hop' is back with a vengeance - and a flash of thigh - in this showstopper. Subtle? Who needs to be subtle?!
Rihanna wows the crowds in a dramatic ruffled neon Giambattista Valli maxi dress.
Jennifer Hudson Wears a curvy-hugging strapless cocktail dress in one of her red carpet staple colours, metallic bronze / brown.
Lil' Kim chooses a surprisingly sedate purple halter dress with metallic accessories.
Keyshia Cole ramps up the volume in this belted yellow bubble dress. So bright you need shades.
Jordin Sparks matches her cute pleat-detail cocktail dress to the BET Awards red carpet.

Olympic gold snowboarder Shaun White on the cover of Nylon Guys

The flying tomato has added another accolade to his CV: Shaun White is the latest superstar to grace the cover of super stylish US men's magazine Nylon Guys - little brother title to fave ladies title Nylon. Writer Luke Crissell paints a unique portrait of the Olympic Gold winner, as he hangs out with the skate and snow wonderkid at home in San Diego - complete with photoshoot by Kevin Zacher and simultaneous pool party.
Alongside former cover stars Pete Wentz, Hayden Christiansen, Pharrell Williams and Bathing Ape's Nigo it's an interesting cover choice for the mag and equally cements Shaun's status as now a true mainstream celeb. Although, from reading this interview, he's still unfazed and having a ball.
From Nollie, our extreme sports site
Nylon Guys also seems to be moving more in the skate, snow, and surf direction too: there's a profile of Insight US head Jesse Faen, they head to Fiji for Nixon's annual High Tide Hold 'Em event to play poker, fish, surf and drink beer, and there's a rather tasty pick of arty summer skateboard decks.
