Italian authorities have announced that they are investigating Dolce & Gabbana for tax evasion. So far, it has been reported that neither Domenico Dolce nor Stefano Gabbana have been named in the investigation, but that their eponymous fashion group could be up for $192 million in unpaid taxes and fines.
But that's not all, earlier last week, WWD reported that in a separate inquiry, the tax man was also after D&G Industria SpA to pay a fine of $3.1 million for failing to declare sales of stock by a third-party company to distributors.
None of this, however, seems to have impacted on the designers' back pockets. It is alleged that they are currently looking at properties to buy, including a monastery in Milan, worth an estimated $38 million. D&G reps are yet to respond.
It would make a super place to hide if/when the tax man comes a knocking.
