Nina Garcia

Nina Garcia confirmed for Marie Claire... finally!

Well thank goodness, Nina Garcia has made one decision at least. While we're still unsure if she'll be returning to Elle as an editor-at-large for the 5th season of Project Runway, she will be joining Marie Claire fashion director in September.

She will attend spring fashion week with the magazine, and should the title be named the sponsor of Project Runway season 6, she'll surely reprise her judging role.

'Stylista'

Fashion enthusiasts vie for job at Elle magazine on 'Stylista'

Fresh from the Tyra Banks Factory of Reality Shows, comes Stylista, a show which pits budding fashion mag lackeys against each other to win the coveted(?) prize(?) of being assistant to Anne Slowey, Elle's Fashion News Director and all-round scary lady.
Clips have become available for us to have our first sneaky peek and it looks so ridic it might actually be good...

Some of our highlights (or lowlights - whichever way you want to look at it):

- Those assistants have got some great trucking-on spirit: "I have no idea of how many more days of this kind of torture, essentially, I can handle... but I'm gonna try."
- Does Anne have blisters? Or are those heels just too high for her to walk in?
- LOVE the YSL star necklace even more now.
- The sound of trembling trays was actually quite disturbing... but I think I would be too in her presence!
- Didn't those kids research Anne's typical daily diet? If they did, they'd know they've piled those trays way too high.
- Are these the fake offices we've been hearing about?

Aside from the paid position at Elle, also up for grabs is a paid lease on a Manhattan apartment for one year and $100,000 clothing allowance at H&M. Not bad, not bad at all...

Gemma Arterton & Sophie Ellis Bextor

We are hearing a lot of buzz coming from the Rimmel camp this morning. I guess it has been a little while since the last 'who is going to replace Kate Moss?' rumour. This time, it's Sophie Ellis Bextor who is reportedly taking over the reins from the Brit model, after signing a multi-million pound contract with the cosmetics company for three years.
According to reports, Bextor will shoot two campaigns per year, with her first ad already filmed and under her belt.

"Not only is Sophie beautiful but she has the cool look Rimmel is looking for. She is hip but is also a mum so she will sell to a range of ages," a source said.
Although Coty Beauty, which owns Rimmel, has confirmed that Moss will stay on as global ambassador, they admitted that they are scouting for new faces.
"Coty is considering other models to work alongside Kate to reach new markets in Asia, South America and the Middle East," said senior vice-president Stephen Mormoris.

Meanwhile, Bond girl Gemma Arterton has revealed that she had to pull out of starring in the Rimmel campaign as it conflicted with her contract with Avon.
"Gemma was ready to go with Rimmel, but the deal crashed at the last minute," a source told the Daily Mail. "She wanted to make a big name for herself outside of the acting world and loved the idea of being the next Kate Moss."

It now appears as though Rimmel could be going back to their original choice of Alexa Chung.

I knew there had to be a reason for why Abbey Clancy was in that awful reality show with Janice Dickinson...
The swimsuit model and girlfriend of England player Peter Crouch, will soon be starring in a new fashion television series for ITV2.

Titled The Fashion Project, Clancy will co-host along with spunky radio presenter George Lamb, on the all-out fashion programme which is said to include celebrity guests, a live band, catwalk show, and a studio audience - sounds a little like Top Gear for the fashion crowd if you ask moi!
"The viewers will be absorbed in a total fashion experience, a sneaky peek into a celeb's wardrobe, an A-list stylist makeover for an audience member or top tips for the season," said an ITV spokesperson.
"No style stone will be left unturned, as every fashion essential is put to the test."
We look forward to it with great interest but hoping with different presenters...

Gwyneth Paltrow

After the much publicised world promo tour for Iron Man (forever known as Gwynnie's shoe tour) I wouldn't blame Gwyneth Paltrow for wanting some time off.
But nope, she is back to work currently shooting a four minute film for Italian accessories company, Tod's.

The film, which depicts a day in the life of the actress have been shot in Rome, and see her in a white one-shouldered dress, shopping in the city, with Tod's Pashmy bag, and aboard a boat. It is a creation of actor and director Dennis Hopper, who is a long-time friend of Tod's chief executive officer Diego Della Valle.
It is due to be released at Cannes Film Festival, and on Tod's website, so keep your eyes peeled!

Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen

We love Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s more affordable line Elizabeth + James, and we aren’t the only ones. Just this week, fashionista Nicole Richie and designer Lauren Conrad were sporting some of the line’s Spring looks.

Then when we caught Nylon’s sneak peak on what to expect for fall, we had to share it with you. With prepster plaid skirts, bright colors like electric pink, flannel and more we couldn’t help but think Gossip Girl. Nylon rightfully calls it “trust fund babe goes to a rock concert”. We love it! Tell us: What do you think of Elizabeth + James’s fall collection?

The new mom turns up in a mixed-print Elizabeth and James dress, black Tom Ford fedora and vintage Gucci boots for classes at traffic school in L.A.

The Hills star hits MTV's Upfront Presentation in a peacock-print Elizabeth & James dress and long curls.

Nina Garcia

I don't know if you've been keeping as close an eye on the Nina Garcia-Elle debacle as I have (although, surely I can't be the only one that's found this whole magazine politics thing fascinating?)

If you're as interested as I am, you'll be pleased to know the latest developments indicate the situation is about to be all wrapped up....

Apparently, Garcia is headed for Marie Claire!

Earlier Marie Claire was rumoured to be in the running to replace Elle magazine as the Project Runway partner magazine, and now it seems more pieces of the puzzle are coming together.

The job move and magazine partnership would clear the way for Garcia's continued presence on Project Runway, a point which has been hotly debated.

Garcia will supposedly be taking a position in Marie Claire's fashion department. News that Marie Claire's fashion director, Tracy Taylor, is leaving the magazine surfaced at the same time - leaving us free to speculate the Garcia could be up for that job.

The upcoming fifth season of Project Runway will be the show's last on the Bravo Network, and the last year of the show's contract with Elle, before moving to Lifetime, which has corporate ties to Marie Claire.

Kelly Ripa

I can’t believe that we’re ending the week with a Kelly Ripa photoshoot, but I really couldn’t resist posting these shots and I’ll be damned if she doesn’t look shwingtastic, especially in the top picture. So enjoy these pictures of a thirty-seven year old mother of three who has a body that could give any 20-something starlet a run for their money.
