Roberto Cavalli F/W 11.12: Natasha Poly, Mariacarla Boscono, and Karen Elson

Roberto Cavalli's fall/winter darkly bohemian with a hint of burnished sparkle collection, long and layered looks get captured by duo Mert and Marcus, the contrast in the ad's of the deep red and purple woodland background with the colours of the models hair and a witchy and gothic feel to the models; Natasha Poly, Mariacarla Boscono, and Karen Elson, alongside the clothing of futuristic inspirations arrived via metallic embroideries and gilded fabrics that refracted rays of light all the way to outer space with the norm of floral and animal prints.

Kelly Knows How to Bump Milan…

Chic Report caught up with Kelly Rowland at the Just Cavalli show…

Is this your first show?
This is my first show…in Milan…this season…yes.

What else will you see?
Perhaps Mr. Cavalli’s other show, but I think that’s it. And I will be performing tomorrow night! [Tonight, Cavalli is toasting his collaboration with Coca-Cola Light at his Just Cavalli Café.]

What do you like to do while you’re in Milan?
Eat! I love eating at this amazing restaurant—it’s a hotel, actually. The Bulgari.

You should have a spa treatment while you’re there—the spa is amazing.
I’ve heard that, actually! Now that I heard you say it—you’re the third person who’s said that—I’m going to go.

Costume designs for Madonna's Sticky and Sweet tour

Madge has teamed up again with designer/stylist Arianne Phillips. The two have worked together for about 11 years.

Phillips told Women's Wear Daily that this new tour has posed an interesting challenge.

She says, “Normally we prep in April and May, and open in June. This time, the tour begins in August. It’s a nightmare. Everyone in Italy and France is on a beach sunning themselves.”

Phillips also revealed, "Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci designed two outfits and Tom Ford provided bespoke suits for the band. Three pairs of shoes have been custom-made by Miu Miu, there are thigh-high boots courtesy of Stella McCartney, sunglasses from Moschino, and other outfits and odds and ends from Yves Saint Laurent, Roberto Cavalli, and Jeremy Scott."

The first references gangsta pimp and Art Deco with Givenchy(above) costumes. The dominatrix look will be featured prominently:
“It’s a theme that runs throughout her career. She’s not afraid of being hard," said the costume designer.

The second section has been termed “Old School”(first, below) and looks back at Madge's early days in New York. This section will feature some vintage prints from Keith Haring, the late graffiti artist and friend of Madonna who died of AIDS in 1990. Phillips said, “He and Madonna were friends. If he were alive, it would be his 50th birthday as well. So I thought, ‘What if we revisited that?’"

The third party will be gypsy-influenced and the final section will feature a futuristic rave look with lots of Japanese influences.

Phillips also went on to say that getting older has had little effect on Madge's sense of fashion adventure, “She always wants to push the envelope. There are no vanity considerations based on her age…She looks good in everything.”

Diet Coke get dressed by Roberto Cavalli

Forget the rich and the famous, it's Diet Coke that has our designers chomping at the bit to dress these days. Following on from Patricia Field's limited edition bottles for the fizzy sensation, are these new designs from Roberto Cavalli, to mark the start of Milan Fashion Week. Only 300,000 will be made of the three variations, and in true Cavalli style, they are pretty flash. Dressed to the lid in animal print, I'm betting these beauties will leave Cavalli's usual crew (J.Lo, Victoria Beckham & co.) clamouring to get a taste.

Robert Cavalli: A/W 08

Roberto Cavalli chose as his inspiration for his Fall Winter 08 campaign, Luchino Visconti’s 1963 film, Il Gattopardo (The Leopard). How fitting that Fu’ad Aattou plays the dashing young male lead for Cavalli’s take on the movie. Fu’ad’s recent release, The Last Mistress, co starring Asia Argento and directed by France’s fearless Catherine Breillat, had fans swooning over his sheer beauty and sensuality. Though the New York Times called Fu’ad “a luscious newcomer”, modelizers know that Fu’ad’s matinee idol status is long overdue.

Kate Moss for Just Cavalli autumn/winter 2008-9 campaign

She may have been dropped from Roberto Cavalli's mainline advertising, but that hasn't stopped Kate Moss from fronting the designer's Just Cavalli autumn/winter 2008-9 campaign. The supermodel looks right at home in these shots taken by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, surrounded by guitar-strumming musos.

Cavalli faces revealed for autumn/winter 2008-9 campaign

The rest of the Cavalli faces have been revealed for autumn/winter 2008-9. In addition to Isabeli Fontana, (above) Roberto Cavalli has also selected Angela Lindvall, Raquel Zimmerman, and Frankie Rayder.

Inspired by the film Il Gattopardo, starring Burt Lancaster and Claudia Cardinale, the campaign is based on the story that 'the more it changes, the more it stays the same'.

"I've always been aesthetically fascinated by this film," Cavalli told WWD. "In the campaign, the heroine - a sort of new Angelica - Cardinale in the movie - dances in the wilderness while a fire rages in the background. She represents the force of everything that is new, yet in the end she's dressed like a romantic debutante. I find this idea, the contrast of old and new, to be very modern and thought provoking."

The four models replace Kate Moss, who will now be focussing on being the face of the designer's Just Cavalli label.

Roberto Cavalli unlikely to do another diffusion line

Roberto Cavalli's H&M diffusion line was a major success sales wise but he's unlikely to do another range, if a recent Telegraph interview was anything to go by. In the interview, Cavalli also stated that he "detest(s) men - dressed or naked" - which goes a long way to explaining why his menswear range for H&M was so awful.

His main gripe was with celebrity diffusion lines, on which he says "I'm very much against all these celebrities doing diffusion lines...Kate Moss's collection was badly made, stupid and bland; you see things like that everywhere. You can't just buy things for the label - it's ridiculous."

Roberto Cavalli interview

When it comes to speaking his mind, Roberto Cavalli doesn't hold back. This has never been more apparent than in a recent interview with the Telegraph's Celia Walden.

Conducted on board Cavalli's luxury yacht in Cannes, the Italian designer gives his views on everything from Madonna, to Kate Moss's collections for Topshop.

Roberto Cavalli on Madonna... "She is not nice with anyone: she doesn't know how to be nice."

On Victoria Beckham... "Sadly, now that she's in LA, it's difficult to see one another. We talk all the time on the phone, though. She is such a fantastic woman."

On the way women dress today... "There is a real vulgarity in the way women dress at the moment. They show off too much and try too hard. They don't understand where the line is between sexy and vulgar. I know where that line is."

On rumours that he is gay... "I am not gay. I detest men - dressed or naked - but women..."
On English style... "The English - oh my God. I shouldn't say this because I live part of the time in London, but they are on a par with the Swiss stylistically."

On his own achievements... "In 1970 I was the number one designer in the world; people like Armani were nothing next to me."

On celebrity diffusion collections... "I'm very much against all these celebrities doing diffusion lines. Do I suddenly get up in the morning and say that I am going to start a singing career, with the horrible voice that I have? That's what these girls do when they show the world how horrible their fashion ranges are. Money is the most corrosive aspect of life today because it means that all attention to detail is forgotten. Kate Moss's collection was badly made, stupid and bland; you see things like that everywhere. You can't just buy things for the label - it's ridiculous."

Like I said... no holding back
