Sir Paul Smith On Golden Rules of Suiting!
Who knows better a power of a good suit better than Sir Paul Smith? He recently shared everything you need to know about this wardrobe staple. Voici the highlights.
Know Thyself. Style is not something you can buy. It’s nothing to do with money; it’s already inside you. Be yourself. Analyze your character, body shape and lifestyle and go from there. The most common mistake men make is when they try to go against these things and wear clothes that don’t suit their personality. I very rarely wear a tie, and have always had scruffy long hair with a mind of its own–but that’s fine because it suits my character completely!
Find Your Fit. Choose a cut that will flatter your physique. If you’re short or stocky, don’t buy a double-breasted jacket, because it makes you look even more so. Instead, pay attention to the lapel notch–the lower the notch, the longer and leaner the whole jacket will look. A higher notch gives a shorter collar, and is a very popular look at the moment.
In the Pink. Don’t be afraid of pink shirts. Men always think they’re too feminine, but women adore them. Pink is one of the best colors for pasty British skin as it warms up the complexion. If you have Mediterranean coloring, or a bit of post-holiday suntan, switch to a mid-tone sea blue for a similar effect.
Manners Maketh Man. When it comes down to it, I have absolutely no problem with the way anyone dresses at all. Who the hell cares? Being ‘well-dressed’ is as much about a person’s behavior, manners and posture as it is about what they’re wearing. Yes, a tailored suit and handmade shoes are beautiful things, but the truly well-dressed combine them with other qualities–courtesy, good manners, and knowing when to talk and when to listen.

Birds of a Feather
Better late than never. Rubin Singer presented his resort collection to select editors Tuesday afternoon at a gorgeous 15,000 sq. foot apartment. We fell in love with the flowy dresses and were stunned at how two patterns could created such diverse design shapes. “All my prints are developed by me and the collection is based on birds of heat, basically tropical and wild birds. They’re also based on fauna I researched, developed and then calibrated through different color waves. I mixed in lizard skin to counterbalance the chiffon and the softness of everything,” explained the designer.
“My clothes aren’t geared to a specific girl. My woman demands two things–seriousness and decadence, two things I don’t think are bound by age or culture or geography, they’re more about the makeup of one’s self.”

Top designers decide it's time to give back
This week, after announcing a net profit rise of over 66% since last year Giorgio Armani (pictured) has decided it's time to give something backThe company will be teaming up with leading fashion e-tail site yoox.com to provide scholarships for students wanting to break in to the world of online fashion. The designer will be offering one annual scholarship per year for the new one-year master’s degree in e-fashion at the Politecnico di Milano’s business school. That's a tuition bill of 15,000 euros taken care of for one lucky student.
Yoox will be offering three more scholarships for the master's course and Diesel, Marni and Valentino will all be offering internships.
Fashion students are also set to get more expert tuition from Jimmy Choo. The shoe maker who sold his share of the Jimmy Choo label to Tamara Mellon in 2001 and then set up his own couture footwear label making bespoke shoes for private clients has decided not to look for any new clients and focus his attention on education projects at London College of Fashion where he is a professor, advising on shoe and accessories courses.
He will however continue to make shoes for existing clients who already wear his one-off designs.

W Magazine - Giselle Bündchen - Kiss The Sky

W magazine continue to showcase and commission shoots that are superbly shot by creative photographers with stand out talent and concepts. This shoot featuring the iconic Gisele is no exception. Shot by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott and styled by Alex White, the theme is “Kiss the Sky” where a Grecian sun-worshipping goddess poses against a barren desert like island in a series of bright, bold, shimmering outfits. The photography style suits the choice of costume beautifully. Shot close-up and from various angles, the native elements of the sparkling blue sky and granite rock against the metallic or primary palette of red and white allow the colours to pop into focus. Each piece has a mad max, modern warrior theme from metallic sequined armour, intricate pleating, eyelets, lacing and wild long haired capes
